Harris Scarfe convicted of negligence after the death of a shopper – 2007
Majort South Australian retailer, Harris Scarfe Australia Pty Ltd, was convicted and fined more than $20,000 in 2007 after an 89 year old woman suffered serious leg injuries in an incident while shopping at the flagship Rundle Mall store in 2005.

Coles found in breach of the OHS Act
Coles was fined $170,000 in damages after the Industrial Court of New South Wales found they had breached the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 (NSW) by failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees at work in relation to two workers who fell through a suspended ceiling onto conrete below.

Intimidating inspectors comes at a cost
December 13, at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court two men who assaulted, threatened and intimidated WorkSafe (Victoria) inspectors pleaded guilty to charges of inspector assault & intimidation.
